Gathering at a snail's pace...

As of late, we have been having a very hard time gathering due to just about everything associated with the site running very, very slow. It can take minutes just to open a photo before we even attempt to make a comment ...which may take minutes to load, or may not appear after submitting it! It has become increasingly frustrating to us and delayed us terribly. We wanted our many friends to know we haven't forgotten about you! We enjoy your work and  have been aggressively trying to keep up and catchup!

Are we the only ones dealing with the Gather site running so slowly and taking so long to load?

Does anyone have any suggestions for fixing  this problem?

Any information would greatly be appreciated.

Again, to our many friends...please know we HAVEN'T abandoned you or forgotten about your work!

I haven't been on this past weekend, so I haven't noticed if Gather is slower than usual. I hope not!

It's been slow for me lately, I've been having a hard time catching up with all my content in my group. Hope it gets better soon:)

I have tested some theroys,, and they are working to my advantage, I post something every day, not ten or more a day yet some, so I am not hurting points wise,, I dont really care points wise either, I love hearing from friends,,,

i can't always read something because a ad comes up and covers up what i am trying to read or view it took me 3 trys to read this because of it

i can't always read post or view photos there are 2 ads that cover them most of the time wish i knew how to stop that any ideas

I haven't had a problem with ads opening up but it's very slow. Very very slow. It really helps me if I open a lot of stuff up in different tabs, that way they can all be loading while I'm reading one thing.

I haven't had too many problems, but I have a Mac computer & am using the Safari browser.

I get so used to problems on Gather that I don't really think about them. I am getting the big popup ads, but click the box and they go away. Very annoying. Gather has sold us out to get more ad revenue. They are, after all, a business. Their corporate thinking is for the short haul, not the long view that they will be losing more and more members. I'm trying to stay on here long enough to get my next cash out.

AMEN to everything you said, Debbie! It's getting worse and worse, day by day, for me.....I get so disgusted, I'm about ready to quit this place.....I cannot, for the life of me, be sitting at my computer for 4, 6, 8, 10 hours a day, TRYING to make "any" progress on here.......I really think Gather is dying, bit by bit. Tons of my close friends have left Gather quite awhile ago, for much "greener pastures."

We also have a problem with our friends pics and postings showing up on our home page. Many times we miss items and have to scroll friend by friend, item by item, to make sure we find what they have posted.

This is the slowest site I ever visit "by far" when it comes to that issue, every place else I go is nearly instantaneous, and I know it's not the PC. Sometimes it seems worse than other days, but paging back and forth through here can get frustrating to me too.

I agree with you 100% John......I keep thinking it's MY computer when, in actuality, it probably is NOT.....the problems are mounting, they are horrendous, and I've never seen any site nearly as slow as this place has gotten. Perhaps Gather Support is really wanting people to give up and quit and go somewhere else. This place is really dying........and I see why people have left/are leaving in droves!!!!!!

I know it is slow when I am using my cellphone to reply! Perhaps someone can let the gather people know? It often helps to give feedback. I have been busy studying and did not notice.
Gather is not running slow for me.......Facebook runs even slower

Gather is slow and I can only imagine how annoying that can be if you have a group to take care of. You guys do a wonderful job. I have noticed another one of my sites has begun to slow down just as Gather is slow in the same ways. Navigation is near to impossible sometimes. It is especially slow to try and tweet or share posts. I have learned to do other things while pages load etc. The adds that pop in just started today for me. I click refresh the page and they disappear. I hope a speed up solution comes soon!

I have periodic problems, and then, at other times, it is as quick and speedy as ever. Maybe it's the time of day?

Sorry to hear you've been having Gather troubles, Tim. I've been having Gather problems, too. I think it's my computer. I have a lot of trouble opening posts. It's very slow or not at all. It seems to me that the more involved the post (pictures), and the more comments there are, the longer it takes to open. And posting is very tedious. I've been contemplating a new computer.

The 'slowness' of Gather can be a 'browser' problem or a computer problem. Needless to say - it is more of a problem when the 'Sky' writers are busy loading their articles. Also then it depends on how many Members are on Gather too. Yes, it is very frustrating at times. I'm on an imac & have few problems considering it all ... have run into a day when it is more slow & quirky ... but just muddle through it with the rest of you.

Don't give up ... we need you here in Gatherland - just know we are all in the same boat with you :))
When Gather runs slower than I can handle. I just log off for a bit and go work on my photos. Hope it runs better for you.

Sometimes it runs slow for me but when it does I just come back another time. If I stick around I will get frustrated with the site. I hope it fixes itself soon for you.

All of my other programs work 100% fine and are super, super fast....Gather, well, I really think, is dying.....I cannot believe the slowness, and, as you know, I've NOT been able to post photos here in over 7 months now.....I have tons of really lovely photos....can't share on here, that's for sure.
I am going to be getting a brand new computer soon.......guess that should help but, at this point, I'm honestly NOT hopeful. Thankfully, I do not have to "depend" on any kind of earnings here for anything, or I'd be up the creek.......LOL!!!!! I've been doing incredibly well at my "favorites."
Gosh, Tim, I truly feel your frustration......but I'm beginning to feel things are NOT going to get any better on here.

The site is a bit slow for me too.. and I've accessed the site via many computers.. so I know it's not my new laptop causing the problem. :(
