We Gather to fit our lifestyle.
Sometimes I post 40 pics at once when we are going to be out of town for a few days and not able to Gather. Anyone who wants to view all 40 photos can either view them all at once, or at their leisure...or not at all! Gathering doesn't have to mean viewing and commenting on everything the minute it is posted. We also enjoy revisiting photos and postings of our friends a few days later, when we can read comments and respond to others weather it's our stuff or that of others.
There are some here who post everything at once daily. There are some here who post individual items throughout the day. There are others who post a lot every so often. And there are those who post when they only have something to post.
People on Gather, and all over the worldwide web are all different. It doesn't mean one is right and the other is wrong. We're just different. Different in our looks, in the way we live, in the way we view things, ...in the way we do things!
I guess it's human nature to want to view and comment on everything as it is posted. But that can be a chore! And when 'Gathering' becomes a chore, it is no longer fun!
We hope everyone has a great day, and a great weekend!
We will not be Gathering much this week, since we are back at our home in New Orleans, and will be busy with Super Bowl related events. So if you get bored and/or miss the things we post...why not go visit some of the 40 photos we posted a few days ago!

I hope you enjoy all your Super Bowl festivities. I know that is a big event for so many, especially all of you in NOLA! Will you be in the stadium or watching from the comfort of your home?
This is NOW FEATURED in PUTTING THE PIECES TOGETHER ~ now, I'm going to the next comment box to respond to this...
Like Debbie said in the comment above, I would like to be here 24/7 too, and as much as (and when I can), I am here for long sessions -- I do so enjoy the friends I've met here on Gather, and I love the conversations and the information that can be found here.
But, back to your question ~ How do you Gather?
I spend most of the time featuring others in my Gather Groups, moderating mine, as well as the other Gather Groups I'm a Moderator in, and reading and viewing posts and photos and artworks. I do a lot of responding to discussions that are shared by others, as well as myself. I just really enjoy what I find here on Gather. My Gather friends here are just awesome!
I'm also sometimes very touched by what I read here. We really do feel like we have become neighbors of sorts. When people are sick, or pass away that we have known here on Gather (and been connected to) for years, it pulls a heart-string...at least for me it does.
I can remember many times here on Gather being so shocked by the passing of some of my Gather friends here that I had to take a break for a time. And most of them were Artists, Poets, Authors, and Writers that had really been very supportive from the moment I came to Gather.
I'm very blessed to have so many talented Gather friends here like you Tim, and Debbie above. Gather is really MUCH BETTER than any Social Site around!
I'm going to come back to read all of the comments in response to this, because I want to KNOW how others Gather ~
ENJOY your time away Tim, because when you come back, we'll be here waiting on you {tapping fingers on keyboard with a smile) ~
so...heres the same sentiment in a shorter format.
I follow a group of my friend through email. i get a notification whenever they post anything. I do my best to at least view, if not comment on everything they post.
I love getting comments and views on my stuff. Even if it is just "nice" or "cool" but i would never expect someone to feel that NEED to comment or view my stuff just because i did on theirs. Thats just not what gather is about, or at least not how i see it. I do appreciate it all though!
Like you said, there is no reason to get bent out of shape on here. when it becomes a chore it is no longer fun!
I tend to post as time permits, but I try to spread my posts out. Unfortunately, lately even posting my things 6-8 hours apart shows me doing 3 or 4 in a row in some groups.
=)
Hope you have a great time in New Orleans!
I enjoy viewing your photos. I love to see places that I will probably never go. Gather is a fun place to play. I enjoyed your article.
I belong to several groups that strive to give every submission 40, 60, 75 or 100 views. There are a few people who post 40-100 photos at a time into these groups. That means that 11 months later, the group owner and friends are asking people to view these masses of photos, day after day. The first 17 pages of one group were nothing but this one woman's photos, with a few more on page 18. If the photos were all different, more of them would have been viewed during the 11 months, but when 10 of them are barely different views of the same thing, they are lucky to get the 3 or 4 they accumulate. I try to help, but I get really tired of the same old photos from the same person after a few weeks.
The considerate thing to do would be to post no more than 10 photos a day to these groups who work so hard to make sure each photo gets a certain number of views. There are plenty of other groups that have no problem accepting 100 photos of your event.
